If you were just starting out what items would you buy? is there a decent kit to get someone started out or is it better to buy as individuals?

I just got a kit from bears and even though I had no realy experience with injection kits let alone pouring I was able to get started almost as soon as I open the box and these where my second attempt

I was just placing an order at Lurecraft and was reminded that they have a DVD called Introduction to Pouring Soft Plastics. I don't know anything about it but you could try this if you don't want to do a bunch of searching on the forum.
