gonfishn
I've been wanting to make some of my own scent using highly condensed scent and adding it to some type of "oily" medium. Thought of using worm oil (MSO) but was told that it would harden up the baits if I used it as a scent in the bag and it sat in there for awhile. Thought of using mineral oil but again was told that it wouldn't work either. Also thought I might try sme menhaden (speling) oil as I know a guy who has a barrel of it but it's kinda yellowish looking (old?) and it has its own smell anyway. Anyone got any thoughts? Would really appreciate it.
bear21211
We Use DINP Worm Oil to break down all of our Scents. It does not make the plastic hard. bear21211
Diisononyl phthalate (DINP) is a phthalate used as a plasticizer. It is common in most Liquid Plastics therefore it is not going to make the plastic turn hard. Most call it Worm Oil as it has been used in applying to the outside of our baits before we bag them. Even using it on what we call Green Plastic or Phthalate free plastic it will still not make the plastic hard. Mineral Oil will react to the plastic as will a lot of other oils and will cause adverse effects on the baits.
