Markell
When I apply the powder paint to my jigs, I always try to coat the hook eye. The powder paint melts around the eye and I think it looks really nice(The eye is not painted shut but the wire that makes the eye is covered with paint). I started thinking about how practical this approach is. I have never had line breakage due to the powder paint chipping and cutting the line but it seems like this is a real possibility. I painted several Jigs tonight with the eye unpainted and it just does not look as good. Another advantage I can see to painting the eye is it increased the diameter of the wire and could make for a stronger knot maybe. Anyway, I am on the fence with this issue and would like some advice. Thanks!
Richoc
My thoughts on this are if it is completly painted it will be fine. But if just dusted, it is ruffer so BAD! I like no paint on the eyes at all.
piddler
properly cured powder is elastic and malluable and probably not as tuff as fishing line. under cured powder is brittle and will break with sharp edges exposed that could cut your line.
