Tube Making

Recommended Posts

Just looking for a little direction. I have read Ray Rigby's article and I am excited about getting started. As I am dipping, is there any disadvantage to dip say 50 at once. In Ray's article and also a photo posted here I get the impression that they are only dipping 5 or so tubes at one time. As a rookie, I am wondering why that is. As I mentioned I am excited, but I do not want to start off on the wrong foot. I look forward to all the feedback I can get, even if it is advice that has nothing to do with this post.

Thanks

Here is how I got to 50...

Ray mentioned a commercial grade deep fryer. I looked on the and found a resonabley priced one that was 22 x 17. So I figured if I kept the dipping sticks roughly 2-3 inches apart I could get 50 on the board. Does this eem unrealistic. Now I have to trim the tails. Can't wait for that...

Think you will have some real trouble keeping that much plastic hot and mixed...esp tube plastic with salt (presumably). Also some problems spacing the mandrels that close together. it will work, mine are closer, but you do have the issue of keeping little 'strings" of plastic and drips off of the tubes.
