Chuck Conder
Good Evening, This may be a dumb question. However, I'm still going to ask! Has anyone ever used Plasti Dip to make small tube baits? I was at Ace hardware today and picked up a bottle of it....I figured what the heck, its only 5 bucks! http://www.plastidip.com/home_solutions/Create_Your_Color_Kit Chuck

Roger Linnell
I use it on my jig heads. It absolutely does'nt chip. the only drawback is that it is not wormproof.

I have had the same problem with my jig heads when I've tried any vinyl dips or paint. Plastisol softens the paint and turns it into a gooie mess. I tried coating the vinyl paint, but it didn't help. I went back to either rattle can paints, or powder coating.
JSC
Outside of Powder Paint & Epoxy Paint I have found that you need to coat any other coating with Epoxy to keep the Plastisol from making a mess. JSC

JSC [/quo I agree with JSC,that is the best bet.I have used enamel, and heating in a oven to get a passable painted jig head.
fred27
Sounds like this person was asking about making tubes with this dip stuff, not dipping the jigheads. Maybe he will clarify later.
Chuck Conder
Sounds like this person was asking about making tubes with this dip stuff, not dipping the jigheads. Maybe he will clarify later. Thanks for all the replies. fred27, you are correct. My kids enjoy making baits as much as I do, so I thought if the plasti dip would work it would be a great alternative...given heat is not required. I purchased the color kit, so they have unlimited colors and are not wasting plastisol while double dipping for multiple color schemes. They primarily are creating crappie and blue gill baits. BTW...my son made an excellent dub of the jigging minnow with some clear silacone from wallmart and strongman putty! Thanks Guys Chuck
