Matt Moreau
Just wanted to share my first attemp at a foil job with you guys... It took 2 coats of devcon and some wood filler but final product is pretty cool. Not as nice as some of the TU masters but i was happy with it. Next is a photo finish of an SF giants lure! http://s306.photobucket.com/albums/nn266/vvakiravv/?action=view¤t=a24382de-1.jpg
Musky Glenn
To me, that is a great looking lure. What did you use to get the design on the foil? Musky Glenn
Matt Moreau
I used the foil tape and put the netting from a shower scrubber underneath it. gives a cool 3d effect in real life
RayburnGuy
Looks pretty good to me. The 3D effect really makes it stand out. Nice job.
mark poulson
I agree, you lure looks great! Foiling over netting has to be a bear. Congrats.
fred27
Very good looking lure indeed. Looks like the extra time and effort sure paid off. Good job.

Matt Moreau
Great job! So, that foil is self adhesive? Where is it available? thank you. Ya it was actually really easy with this stuff. Its aluminum foil tape that you can get at any hardware store. I got the generic Ace Hardware brand but I think 3M makes the better stuff. http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1273881&kw=aluminum+tape&origkw=aluminum+tape&searchId=49774142984

I've got my aluminium tape from a dollar store(actually a 1 Euro store over here ) , ......need to look after tape with a paper backing to peel off , this would minor hazzles in terms of cutting out the right length and shape , also there won't be any sticky remainders on the outer surface . greetz , diemai
CheapTrix
What exactly is "Man foiling"? Just kidding, love the bait, looks sweet. I think the larger netting that you foiled over really brings out the contrast of the foils reflectivity. Nice job! CheapTrix
woodenfeather
Excellent job especially for your first attempt. I've done several foiled lures and I still can't get them to look that good. The scales look awesome, If your lazy like me and are using a relatively soft wood under the foil, you can hold the mesh tight to the lure after you've applied the foil and carefully emboss it using a small laminate roller or a hard dowel rolled over the surface. Also check out "Making wobblers by hand part 2" on youtube. Start watching at 3:20 to 6:15. Both 1 and 2 are great videos but the part where he's applying the foil made me sick at how easy he does it. I wish I knew what he was saying and where to get the pre-embossed foil he's using! Enjoy

I guess it's because Europe is so interconnected. But they do have their individual quirks. I worked with a Finnish carpenter years ago, Innar, and he told me, " Half the world is Finnish, and the other half wish they was!". He also told me that it was the Finnish who caught all the sardines, and sold them to Norway, who then resold them to the US. He spoke Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian, and English. At least those were the languages he told us about. There may have been more. He and another carpenter on that job, a Swede named Sven, used to argue all the time about which country had the better fishermen. They'd go back and forth some days in both English and Swedish, arguing like bitter enemies, and then they'd share their lunches. We would all just shake our heads and laugh. I get my foil from here: http://www.sunshineglass.com/rcol/i-proj/mosaic-access-vent.htm It's called BriteBak tape, and I was turned on to it by someone here on TU. Unfortunatley, I can't remember who, but thanks to them, anyway. It is much thinner and easier to work with than AC foil tape. If you need me to get some for you, send me a PM. Don't know anything about that stuff, but for me, thicker aluminum foil works great. I like the fact that I can conform it to any round shape, and once I bend it (with glue underneath) it will stay bent.
diemai
@ mark poulson Mark , I know that a lot of Scandinavian people do speak English , some also do speak German , ........but as it seems , nobody in that particular webshop did , ..........or maybe only they did not want to do international business ? greetz , Dieter
mark poulson
Rofish, You're probably right, and it wouldn't have been the first time Bob helped me. Dieter, I doubt, in today's economy, anyone would turn down business.
