braveviper
I have been experimenting with ways to mask off the eyes of hooks before dipping my lead jigs into the fluid bed.I dont like the powderpaint on my hooks! Aluminum foil works well but takes time to get it to stay put.I also tried the adhesive backed foil tape used for ducts. The foil tape works real well but the adhesive gets left behind after curing in the toaster oven.Anyone have a solution? Would a bulldog clip do the job. I know you can get them in very small sizes. Would keep the eye hole clear. Dav Ignore, silly idea. mark poulson
I hold the jigs by the eye when I dip, to minimized the paint in them. Edited November 9, 2010 by mark poulson

spoonbender
There is a high temp plastic adhesive tape just for masking powder paint projects. It's a dark green transparent product, actually works pretty well. I picked up a couple rolls a few years back but don't remember the Ebay vendor that had it. I'll snoop a bit and post a link..... I have used putty to cover up my eyes and screw locks. The modeling putty. It has worked well for me. However I pull it off before baking. This might lead you in a good direction. sdsaw
Try the blue painters tape. The adhesive doesn't seem to come off onto your lure. Remove the tape before baking. I'm with you with using alum foil ...too hard to get it right
Vodkaman
Taping the eye is fiddly, it would be easier to tape the hook and hold the eye. This way you protect both ends. Dave
kelly
.The foil tape works real well but the adhesive gets left behind after curing in the toaster oven I think braveviper is wanting to leave the product he uses on for the curing proses, rendering most tape useless. Because of the heat in the oven.

Because of the heat in the oven. That is exactly right Kelly.I think the blue tape will burn off.
