Fish Scales With Powder Pint

Recommended Posts

A question for the powder painters. Is it possible to under coat then mask with a fish netting material and overcoat with another color to get the fish scale look. Seems like the masking material would stick to the heated under coat paint but I see a lot of scales on jigs so I thought I would throw it out there, you never know if you don't ask. Thanks for your replys.

Check out this thread

Actually you can use a regular air brush with this stuff, take a look at the following thread

http://www.tackleund...g-powder-paint/

Don't know why it would not work with an airbrush.

See threads on this page below about clear coating and power painting

No go on the thread, Would not connect. I looked at the threads below and didn't see anything about masking with powder paint. Hey at least I spelled paint right this time(LOL). My powder air brush is on it's way so I'm not really interested in spraying liquid powder through a airbrush.

Try this link: http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/topic/20623-spraying-powder-paint/

These are totally different concepts, dry powder gun is applied to a hot lure, this link refers to air brush spraying, with powder coat in a liquid suspension on a cold lure, letting it dry, then curing. This method should let you spray through a scale pattern mask if you're careful about removing it. If the link doesn't work, the thread is in Hybrid Tackle

use the powder water from columbia coatings and mix it thin spray your scales as if it were normal paint then rebake it I do this all the time I have some craw/tiger patterns on blades that are just unbelieveable the local guys like them better than strike kings SOB lures or anyone elses painted blades for that matter I undercoat with my base then add scales and stripes/tiger markings using the powder water mixed thin let it dry a little then bake in the oven I wouldnt waste my time trying to spray onto a hot blade this is much easier and if you mess up a little it just wipes off and you can start over unlike hot powder coating and you dont risk burning your fingers trying to get the scale mesh or stencils just right

If you have any questions feel free to private message me

Which Eclipse are you using? Bottom feed bottle model or the one with the cup on top?

Thanks,

Pete
