patrick reif
On another fishing related site I had post pictures of my new lizard and swim jigs. I've recieved 2 e-mails from other members who want me to shoot them some of each. I'm not in the business. I don't want to be in the business. I make baits for me and few close buddies, the occassional tackle swap, hand outs at river fishing rodeos, and that's it. I just don't want to turn something I really enjoy into work. Do you guys run into this alot too? I'm starting to feel like I can't show my stuff anywhere but here unless I want to get bombarded with special orders...that sucks!!! I've vented now. Carry on
bass100
That is how I got started in the business and I have to say that I enjoy making baits for friends or money. I can get very busy at times but I still find it fun.

Carry on I only pour for myself, but I've been asked to sell some stuff, too. Mostly from club members I fish with who see how my pours work, and want some. I found out early on, when I started making jointed swimbaits, that making baits to sell takes all the fun out of it, and I just cover costs, even at $75 apiece. That lizard looks great. Where did you find the mold, or did you make it?
fred27
Happens everyday. Patrick, what mold was used to make those weighted hooks? They look nice. fred27
patrick reif
lizard is a Bass Tackle design(color is a mix of what was already cooked and laying around), and the jigs are made with the Do-It SMB-4S-EWG with VMC 4/0 hooks. Travis
I find that if you don't post pictures you don't have to worry about it.

GB GONE
When you post up, put a disclaimer.... "Baits are $20 per bag of 10 and hooks are $5 each". If anybody wants some, you can laugh the whole time you are making them!!!! Lizard is kewl!!! Can I get a bag? Jim
navarre66
Patrick, i've been pouring for just three months and my fellow club members ask all the time for me to make them baits. I give them a list of supplies and tell them that I will teach them what I know and then I give them the TU website. Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish,,, Well you know the rest.
Bfish
Patrick, Think of it as a complement to the good job your doing. PS, might be a good way to trade for new fishing equipment, making it less work like. Blake
Fish Candy Bait Company
I like the disclaimer idea but take it as a complement of your craftsmanship. Don't feel bad about showing off your work. I started by trading or giving some away and now I just sell them. You will not likely get rich from selling but at least you can cover cost and pay for more molds.
