Ric670
I was wondering if there is anyone out there who has successfully made westy type worms.....I am trying to avoid using wires so the plastic has more maneurverability....I read a couple of the threads for wired worms but i haven't quite grasped the technique....any advice would be greatly appreciated...I was hoping to also avoid threading the hooks through the worm body.. Thanks in advance Rick
tigerfire
How about using braided line instead of the wire?
GB GONE
I know I saw a mold at some point with a tie off on each end. Like a post or something to wrap your wire or mono around. Seemed like you could snell the hooks and tie them to each end, put in position and pour. I might be dreaming all this up!!!! Jim
Delw
there are a few ways to do it, lot of people thread them on very quickly its easy. if your going to shoot them with the line and hooks installed its a pain in the butt but only for putting a hook in each bait. 2 hooks tied together is a pain in the butt to get to lay on the mold so you can close it using mono. Wired worms you can shoot at any temp, mono tieing the 2 hooks together need to be injected or poured at a very low temp( injection is the best for low temps. as low as you can go) Braid works well as it doesnt twist when laying in the mold tied with the hooks on. JSC
I tried some super braid in an open mold ( 2 hook rig) and the braid melted .... used braided "Nylon" does OK. Just had this one time thing ... had done it years ago with nylon OK ... Mono is not as flexible as the Nylon braid ... sure was hopeing that the Super Braid would Work .... but no such luck. 2 cents worth JSC

Delw Thanks for the tip Del....and everyone else. M going to work on it....i tried fishing the present wired worms on the market and i just dont think they have enough movement for me. Its been popularized out in the west and i have only tried to fish them a couple of times...it could just be that i don't have the confidence in the bait. But maybe if i made my own i would probably concentrate on working the bait. Del I hope you and April had a great Xmas...Once the Holiday madness stops I'll be back at the shop to buy a ton of more stuff.....For everybody else you can't go wrong when buying your molds from Delmart...I've seen his LAB and its top notch. One of the advantages of making baits in Maricopa county is being able to make a run to Dels and grabbing some last minute things. Thank you again Rick
