Jig Man
and it did today. I have been making my own resin molds for several years and today I made a small grub mold. I had a lot of trouble getting the baits to glue down right and when I finally got the last one down I mixed up my Bondo and as I was pouring it in I remembered that I hadn't oiled the baits. Now I have a bunch of baits stuck in the mold. Any ideas on what I can use to get them out and not mess up the mold?
Vodkaman
I think you're screwed. Consider this as justifying a starting over: Because you did not oil, the finish would not have been as good as it could have. You could melt most of it out, then use a fine gas torch flame, to char up the plastic. It would be a hail Mary though. Is their any chemical that dissolves the plastic? If it makes you feel any better, I just made a two piece PoP mold and forgot to grease the split surfaces. I now have a one piece with my master entombed. PoP is only easy to break when you don't want it to. Last week I made one and forgot to add the location keys. I just know that one day when pouring the second half, I will forget to put the master in. Dave

Jig Man
Dave you were right. I tried several items including WD40, oil, & acetone. None of them did much good. I finally used my Dremel with a brush and got the plastic out of the cavities. They were so rough that after I tried a couple of pours, I deep sixed it and have started all over. This 3 day event was only supposed to take an hour or so. I sure am glad that I am between jobs and don't have anywhere special to go. I sure am glad that I am between jobs and don't have anywhere special to go. Like a dog with a rag doll, we just don't like to let these things go. I was going to try and make you feel better with, "chalk it up to experience", but it seems so shallow, like we need more. I sure am glad that I am between jobs and don't have anywhere special to go. You and me both, brother. I couldn't even drown it tonight, all the bars closed, HUH.
