fongster
My baits tend to run tail down on a steady retrieve. These are heavy baits--3/4 to 1.5 oz., is that why? Does a spinnerbait of any weight ever really run level? If it can be adjusted, what factors come into play--lower wire angle/length, etc.? Thanks. psv
May I ask what kind of skirt do you use ?
t-billy
You can adjust that by bending the wire up to a sharper angle where it comes out of the head. A bulky trailer will also help.
Musky Glenn
I agree with t-Billy, bend the wire. The line creates a straight line with the resistance and the blades are the resistance. Thus the line and blades run in a straight line and the weight or head hangs below on what ever angle the wire frame is bent to. I hate spinner bait commercials where they show the hook hanging out the bottom of the skirt. I also keep my wire bent so the blades are closer to the head than most lures are designed for, just runs better for me. Musky Glenn
fongster
Thanks, guys! I have the wire angled up but not up enough obviously. I am also using those generic 40 strand silicone skirts from Jann's and Stamina (now Lure Parts Online). I was modeling these heavy SBs after 3/8 oz samples, so no wonder stuff was off.
