JSC
First let me say I do not know which hook they are presently using as some changes have been made to "Sally" The older and most accepted hook was a "Sproat" .. large Eye .. from Mustad .. Check out a 3366GL (Gold) .. Hildebrandt (I belive) gold plated it themselves as the weight had to be coated. Not sure of the wire shaft size but most any size will do .. which ever is the easiest for you to work with as it is a straight shaft. Weed Guard Size can be smaller. Here in the Panhandle of FL across into AL has all ways been a "Stand By" lure.. Lew Childre got Hiledbrandt to make it ... back when ... It was a take off from the Yellow Sally Weighted Fly Spinner combo and you used a Uncle Josh Frog ... which for years was all ways a part of the "Sally" fishing ... now Plastic Trailers are used with it. ... As a Jobber Salesman I had a couple of businesses that each year order a good many with a larger blade with out al of the "Stuff" on the shaft so that it could be run shallower and slower .... On my Avatar that it is a "Yellow Sally" in the basses mouth ... Don't use them as much as I did in the past but they are still a great lure ... a real "Tide Water" special for shallow weedy waters ... Sorry to get carried away but thought it might be of intrest to some of you younger guys. Hope That Helps JSC Edited January 6, 2011 by JSC
