BobP Posted January 21, 2011 Report Share Posted January 21, 2011 For epoxies in general, I don't think the resin component of epoxy ever goes bad but it can crystallize if it stays cold too long. If it does, you can heat it to make it liquid again, no problem. Hardeners are different and there are various types depending on the epoxy. Most of them won't "go bad" in the sense of not being able to harden the resin, but they will yellow or turn brown with age and if they do, that will carry over to the mixed epoxy. I've used hardener in epoxy that was years old and brown with no apparent problem - as a glue, not a finish. I can't judge whether its strength may have been compromised to any degree.
