charkins
Can someone explain to me exactly what colors are used in a green weenie? I have seen several pictures that claimed to be green weenie. Thanks Cal
alsworms
Hi Cal, I have seen at least 50 different variations of green weenies. Depends on the maker I guess. Mine is amber brown on top and lime green on the bottom (black & red flake). Another popular one is straight brown over avocado. Makes a darker version. BigZ
I think that Green weenie is the reverse of one of the best patterns I have found, I like green over brown better even though it goes against natural marine biology and is reverse counter shading.I like green over brown,,, I made theis pattern after I got tired of buying "Magic Worms" in "Mr. Moss". When all else fails this worm prevails..... 4 oz plastic 3 drops LC watermelon 2 drops LC Moss Green (This is the most potent LC color I have tried A little goes a LONG way!) black flake to taste ... hehe PART 2 4 oz plastic 3 drops straight Brown (LC and MF both work good) 1 drop LC Jet Black transparent 2 drops LC pumpkinseed. NO FLAKE! You can pour either part over the other, but I get more hits on the green top... GO FIGURE! I don't like to add too much coloring to this type of worm though certain companies load them so they are solid colors. I think you will get a more positive response with better light transmission.... Just an opinion. If you pour reapers in this color, I hope you have new, good quality line...I won't name names, as everyone has a personal preference... You can stick with 6 drops of brown if you have to but the formula above makes a far nicer chocolate if you ask me. Off to Clear Lake this weekend I HOPE! bassgreg
Thanks BigZ Used this color combo this weekend an nailed a 4.01 and a 4.71 smallmouth on back-to-back cast. I did mixed this color combo in a reaper and the fish hit them like a freight train These were also the first fish on our new baits!! Thanks for the tip! BigZ
I'm glad the fish like it there too! I never usually go without the weenie green pattern in my bag, it has booted the skunk off the boat quite a few times. Nice job on the back to back big smallies! Gotta Love That! Green Pumpkin has been my goto for the last few weeks...I should pour some more reverse weenies...or dig thru the plastics box until I find some.
