BigZ
I am gettin' ready to hit clear lake the next couple of weekends, I was wondering if you guys who are in CA have a color choice that applies? I will be pouring 4 and 5.5 inch sticks and most likely some reapers, hawgs, etc. I hear that place is ON right now, but I have no clue as to what colors to pour besides greens.....HELP! chirmy
I hear flippin and pitching senko's in the lakes 1000's of docks is huge with any color. Also, throw in a few frogs. Swim baits in "hitch" color. Go to www.Westernbass.com aske the Nor Cal forums, they all fish it.
alsworms
I haven't fished Clear Lake since last summer, but blue has always been very productive there for me. 3 years ago, we caught over 100 fish in a day on blue and chartreuse skirted spinnerbaits around the boat docks. For a worm, something in a shad with blue flake is good. I like smoke - blue flake and pour a pearl or grey belly. Green weenies are great too. Also try white flukes in the grassy areas. Lots of grass in and around the south and south eastern part of the lake. Also lots of nice bikinis on those docks. Try to stay in the boat. BigZ
Hmmmmm...I wonder if those are catch and release this time of year? I'll probably suffer from massive backlash and a cash of whiplash as well when I spot one in it's natural habitat. I think I can only fish for those at night though right? What's the limit on bikinis anyway...I know I have a slot limit between 5'5 and 5'11 and between 100-140 lbs? Does that sound right? I had better stay away from the cooler or I might poach outside the limit! LoL
alsworms
They get better lookin' as the day goes on too, especially if the fish aren't bitin'.
SRPLASTICS
Right noe the only thing to throw are carp and hitch color swimbaits, as for bedding bass, thats a no brainer
BigZ
It seems that I have bad timing yet agaoin. We got to Clear Lake and it was covered with dead shad, about 1 every foot. I felt lucky to get one fish. Tried rip baits, crankbaits, Spinnerbaits, topwater in the morning, everything. No One was catching fish at all. I sold a couple bags of worms though....LoL. What produced and kept us from being skunked? The Usual Green Pumpkin bait (reaper) on a carolina rig. Maybe next time I go up there the lake won't have turned over that week. Still nice to be out on the boat for a change.... Thanks for all the advice fellas.Z
