YakAngler81
Hey everyone, I'm new here but have done a little reading. I have a question about using netting for getting the scaled look. I pretty much understand the whole technique but just have a couple questions. I will be using Smith Wildlife colors and Createx paints. After I spray the paint, how long do I wait until I remove the netting? Do I need to heat set it immediately after applying the paint? I'm a little paranoid I'll take the netting off too early or something and end up smearing the paint. Any suggestions or tips are greatly appreciated, thanks! .dsaavedra.
i wait a good 30 sec - 1 minute before removing the netting. i always heat set the paint after i remove the netting. if you heat set with the netting on i don't know what would happen (it might get stuck to your bait, like i said, i've never done it)
airbrushextreme
I have heat set with the netting on if there is any paint buildup on the netting it will pull your paint job apart I use a hairdryer briefly to aid in drying remove the netting then heat set my paint if necessary
tekoutdoors.co
what I do is do like 4 or 5 baits at a time. If I want to netting effect I just use createx transparent paint with the color you want the outline to be. I don't use an opaque base coat before that opaque createx seems to be very touchy when taking the netting off. I spray the color wait a couple of minutes then put the netting on and spray the opaque white through the netting and then it just takes like 30 seconds or 1 minute and you can remove it with no problem. I used to heat set it when I would spray opaque over the bait first but just got in trouble with that. Never had a problem the way I do it now. M@TT
Helping to dry the paint with a hair dryer or heat gun for multiple reasons To add the next color To prevent smearing To aid adhesion Etc
