Da big tuna
Have a question . Where do I find the stainless steel wire for bending trout spinners, bottom bouncers and such locally .Is there any wire that I should stay away from? I know there are guys selling it on line, (ebay) but not sure if its a good deal because I have never bought any before. I have Menard's , fleet farm stores like that by me. Do I look further to suppliers that sell to them? I don't need a warehouse full of wire just a healthy supply. I would love to buy online just need some expert advise. Bought a twist tech bender and can't wait to use it but I want to do it right. Thanks John WWW.icemanjigs.com

Fatman
I've always bought and used the ss American Fishing Wire from Janns Netcraft. It comes in 30 ft. rolls or 1.4 lb roll. I started using it back in the 80's and it's always held up good for me. they have it in bright or brown.
cadman
You can also get wire from McMaster Carr and Malin. Both of these places have any kind of wire with any kind of temper you want. http://www.mcmaster.com/#stainless-steel-wire/=azn2qh http://www.malinco.com/
Da big tuna
Well got the twist tech and bending smaller wire the thing sucks. Way too big of eyelet and the wrap is not tight at all. So bent bigger wire and Not real great but I'm really fussy when its says professional it best be. Boy I wish I would have researched it more. I watched their movies and visited some other sites that use them a lot. Everyone I talked to said its was way better than the Boggs and I could have gotten a great deal on one of those. Well now I'm crabby about the whole thing. Does anyone know if there is adjustments I can make to this paper weight to make it work better? It sounds like you are getting a lot of spring back with your wire. Maybe you need a softer spec. Of course with a softer spec, the wires will get bent out of shape easier, this is the dilema. LedHed
I buy straightened SS wire from McMaster Carr. Don’t know about your bender….

I bought wire from cabelas that I thought was perfect. Even the first crank of the twist tech the loop looks nothing like they show. I might have to look into worth tackle company. They make a dandy. I don't mind spending the money as long as its a good tool.
Vodkaman
Well from what you wrote, it seems to have a good reputation, so that is why I suspect the wire, assuming that you are not doing anything wrong of course. Dave

Dave Dave, The thing has a great reputation but I think I'm probably trying to use it for too small of spinners. I emailed the company and ask for specific wire specs and any adjustments that can or should be done to the twister itself. Once that's all taken care of we will determine if I'm a putz or not.. Da big tuna
UPDATE: Talked to the people from Twist Tech and they were very friendly. They are coming out with a adapter for light wire sometime in the next year. T302 tempered stainless steel of .036 diameter is what is optimal for that bender. That is my problem among others I can't mention here . They are also coming out with a adapter for .055 for the musky nuts. They said to check back for updates to the web site if anyone is interested.
