t-billy
I remember reading a thread last year about growing baits, but I can't find it. I made a top pour mold of the magnum fin-eke worm last year and it produced very well. I'd like to have a bigger version. The thread had some info about getting baits to swell up using salt, scent and hot sun or something like that. Do any of you guy's know how to make yer worm grow bigger? The one I remember is, I thought it had to do with soaking the RTV silicone mold in acetone and make the mold bigger.

t-billy
what type of bait is it? worm, swimbait? Straight worm. 6" I'd like to have an 8" version.

Yep. Just found the thread. You can soak rtv in mineral spirits and it will swell. Dell says in the same thread that you can achieve the same result by soaking a salty bait in water or oil. Thanks,Tim.
jesse1378
what about taking a couple of your 6" baits and combining them to make an 8" bait then crate your own mold from that?
t-billy
I'd like for it to be proportionally the same. So it needs to be of larger diameter as well as longer.
nova
I'd like for it to be proportionally the same. So it needs to be of larger diameter as well as longer. If you are going from a 6" to an 8" bait that is adding 33 1/3%. So, what I would do is measure the diameter of the bait at key locations and simply mulitply the measurement by 33 1/3. eg:- if the worm is 0.63 cm diameter then the expanded measurement would be 0.84 cm. (0.63 x 1.333) Working with meteric is much easier to do this kind of work compared with imperial measurements. www.novalures.com
t-billy
I have a couple single cavity rtv molds of this worm. Salvaged from a multi cavity mold that didn't turn out. When I get time I'm gonna soak em in mineral spirits and see what happens. I'll post the results.
Pitbull Baits
Here's a idea to try. This happned to me so I know it works lol. take them out when there still warm but not runny then just strech them. Then put them on a something so they harden to that size. You should be able to get a inch or two by doing that. A couple ones I did went from 11 inch to 13 inch. You really couldn't tell that I did that. Here"s another idea. Get some modeling clay and make a master from your mold then you can add to it. Best way is adding parts to it. So you got to make a couple more masters for parts sort of speak.
