rotorhead Posted February 18, 2011 Report Share Posted February 18, 2011 McMasters-Carr has some reasonable priced 120 volt motors that can be used and they have a selection of speeds. On my turning wheel I used a 12 inch plywood disc on each end with rubber bands in the middle as holders and bought a bag of small spring operated clamps and put a screw thru one arm of each clamp and attached to the edge of each plywood disc. The spaceing is about four inches between clamps. Just mash open the clamp and insert either the lure bill or eye screws that can be placed in each end of the lure body if it doesn't have a bill and turn it on. mark poulson Posted February 18, 2011 Report Share Posted February 18, 2011 (edited) You can pick up a rotisserie motor and spit replacement kit cheap at local home improvement centers. I paid $30+- at the most. The one I bought is a 1 rpm motor, that reverses when it encounters resistance, or when it's turned off and back on. The kit came with mounting brackets for the motor, too. I use a ferris wheel dryer, with 14" diameter wheels, and screw eyes in concentric circles on the insides of the wheels opposite each other. The lures mounted closer to the shaft turn at the same 1rpm speed, but move more slowly because they are closer to the center of rotation. I use Etex and Nu Lustre, and have no problems with drips or sags, as long as I don't put too much epoxy on the lures. There's a picture of my turner on page 6 of my gallery pictures. jstreun36 Posted February 25, 2011 Report Share Posted February 25, 2011 yes you slide lip of bait or i also use alligator clips with a nail pushed into clip( cut head of nail off) this allows you to also push nail between foam. make sure you use a good soft foam mine was call polyfil tru foam. sorry its beentaken so long ive been out of town. I would like to see a picture of it if you don't mind. What holds the baits in place? Are you sliding them between the foam circles?
