yep thats the way to learn for sure ...PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. if one is so inclined to suceed at anything the cost is no matter; as it is all educational!! how else could i help a fellow bait maker acheive his end result but by encouraging him to succeed and giving encouragement along the way?

next time shut your mouth and let some one help him out as he has asked. last i checked this is an educational forum, not an ego boost.

there was nothing ego related to it i dont know where you tread that i was giving another maker an insight about how another used a means to an end. i am sorry if you read more into it than what was typed but that was all that was intended. besides that how dod you help ?

let me see, a user came here and asked if anyone had the recipes to 2 colours and you told him that you dont give out your recipes and he should just figure it out himself, how is that helping him, or doing anything but boost your ego. didnt you just get banned from another forum for this kind of thing? never mind, dont answer that, we've hijacked this thread enough

sorry doc, but i will concur with Pitbull Baits

Doc...I have seen some of your baits and you do a wonderful job! I am considering ordering some of your stuff! Keep up the good work and good luck figuring this color out.

Powerworm- maybe just a nudge in the right direction would help? I mean, what is the harm in throwing a little crumb out there once in a while, after all, I THOUGHT this site was formatted to help guys along with making baits. I did not read where anyone was asking for YOUR secret formula(s)!!

That said, I had posted a request seeking help with Zoom's sweet potato color and got 1 response: LC's Sweet Potato coloring. Hmmmm....I guess arrogance outweighs being helpful. Like some guys on here, I just ask for a little guidance in an area I am unfamiliar with. Doc pours baits and needs help with a color: Where's the harm in helping? Its not like Lucky Craft's secret to its pointer 78 or the plastic supplier for the RC 1.5!!! I have answered a few PM's and offered up some tips on what makes my jigs so weedless and why they catch MANY fish before giving up the ghost! Sorry for the rant, but this is why i joined this site...to learn from others and to offer up some tips now and again!

I've been a member of TU for quite some time now. I have seen a lot of folks come and go. Thankfully there is a "core" membership that has stayed true to this site. That's what makes this site #1 as far as I'm concerned.

As far as I know this site was founded on sharing and paying it forward. If we don't do this the artform will take many steps backward.

Remember; it's give and take, not take and take.

Now play nice.

you are correct i did just get banned from another site; but it was for making posts such as yours and not for giving advice as i did!!

and i wouldnt just say figure it out on your own; instead i gave instruction on what worked for me in accomplishing what i set out to do.

DOC. I HAVE BOTH COLORS NAILED DOWN IF YOU WILL P.M. ME I MIGHT SHARE FOR A BREAK ON SOME TINY BRUSH HOGS...lol

The first color is not violet; I think its just a smidge of super blue with a drop of amber. It's a very hard color to match. Bottom is correct.

The second color top is right on but the bottom has pearl and no flake.

Nova's right on its not violet its blue. Its hard to tell with that picture. White based bait with a white background classie lol. I think I should use a white sheet of paper and sprinkle some flake on it for color chart pictures lol.

The white ice does look like it has flake on the bottom to me. Maybe its a real thin line of pearl white on the bottom without flake but gives it the look the flake is mixed in. Could be the angle of the sample picture throwing me off.

Sorry if I confuesed you any. Its hard to tell sometimes without the bait in my hands.

I just did Albino last night. This is really close....

Albino

Top: 4oz 30 Smoke Pearl Blue (M-F), knife of black

Bottom: 4oz 15 iradescent pearl (M-F), 1 smoke pearl blue (M-F), 2 silver pearl (M-F), knife of black x 2

When I say "knife" of black, I mean get a little on your butter knife to add. Just need less than a drop but just a little black to get the color amped up!!!!

PS... I did try the blue hilite on the top and it was light blue even with adding some black and far to opaque. These baits are pretty clear when held up to the light. The smoke pearl blue is just right.

I can see adding a little flake in the top to give this a different look. Maybe some 0.008 silver or steel grey!!!
