Ca_bassin
Hey guys, I'm new at pourings and molding. This is probably an easy answer. I poured a couple worms and small swim baits i molded out of RTV. After they were cooled and removed i noticed horizontal lines on the sides of some of these. Looks like a scratch. I am using a microwave and Anchor cup to do the pour. Any advice or solution? Thanks
Vodkaman
Sounds like you poured too slow and/or your plastic was not hot enough. Never read about this problem before. Dave
GDille
It takes a few mours on my RTV molds to get the warmed up so I don't have these lines. They are the same "cold cracks" you read about with two colors
nova
What I do is heat up some scrap plastic a little hotter than you normally pour and fill each cavity completely. Let this set in the molds while you prepare the good stuff for pouring. By the time you are ready to pour the good baits the molds are nice and warm. www.novalures.com Edited February 25, 2011 by nova

onlyonmonday
I have not given this idea yet and now feel it is time to get it done.. If you wish to fine tune your mold to SHOW scales, lips, boogers, etc,,, use glazing & spot putty that is used with auto body repair.. It comes in a kind of toothpaste tube and is thin BUT is hard as two rocks when it cures FAST..

Thanks I pour a lot of 3, 4 and 5 inch swimbaits, and in the beginning yes sometime get the line/cold crack....I have actually put my rtv molds in the mic for a minute to warm them up bit... like maybe 100 degs....I also use silicone spray in them to enhance the sheen.....
