bassrecord
What is the longest spinner bait hook made . Any manufacturer any model . Anything from 2/0 up. Thanks May I suggest that you define what you are wanting when you say "longest." For example, your "longest" may mean "as measured from the back of the bend to the front of the eye" or something else in between. When you say "made," do you mean "offered for sale now", "for sale in the past, but discontinued" or some other status? If you are attempting to measure size by N/0 where N is the largest number anyone posts, it is possible that the "N/0" largest size may not be the longest hook. For example, Vendor A, Model 1 hook size 4/0 may be longer that Vendor B Model 1 hook size 4/0. Also it is possible that Vendor C Model 5 hook size 4/0 may be shorter than Vendor D Model 6 hook size 3/0. And of course it is possible that Vendor E Model 7 hook size 4/0 is the same size as Vendor F Model 8 size 4/0. It's been my observation over the decades that hook vendors have been infamous in their misnaming and numbering their hook sizes. To get an accurate answer, sadly it takes a bit of detail in the question asked. Good luck! John
toadfrog
I am glad you reminded me of that . The manufacturing of hooks has become for want of a better word illusive. What I'm looking for is the longest hook from eye to bend. Discontinued or not. most of the tackle I've been making of late is very old style. Spinner bait molds like Ament , Herters , Palmer ect. use exceptionally long hooks or you have to create a wire form for it. Some styles were designed that way some just took a hook . I had hoped some mfg. was making an extra long hook say 4'' . I have already checked with Barlowe's Jann's Just hoping someone had been on a similar quest. Oh Yea cedar plug hooks won't work they are to large of a shank dia.

May I suggest you take a look at the 10X Long Carrie Stevens fly hook from Partridge of Reddich at: http://www.partridge-of-redditch.co.uk/pdf/1salmonCatalogue2005July.pdf If the turned down eye is a problem, then I suggest you search among blind eye hooks that have an eye punched in the end of the shank. If these efforts are not fruitful, then if you can buy 500, 1000 or more, I suggest you contact long time spinner bait manufacturers and ask if they will sell you their discontinued hooks that meet your specs. I found such a source in my area of need. Hope this helps. John BTW If you ever hear of someone who will make public domain hooks to order in 500-1000 lots, I sure would like to contact them.
