Gun For Powder Painting ?

Recommended Posts

I am just getting started with an airbrush & want to understand a little more, any help is appreciated. From my understanding powder with an AB allows fading - are there any other advantages?

I'd like to use the AB for powder & liquid. Will any AB gun that is designed to shoot "heavy" work for powder? or do you use the smaller needle/tip? I'm looking at double action external mix siphon guns that come with several tips - do I really need this? Currently looking at the Iwata (made in the US & spare parts avail).

I'll try to help you here since I spray powder on my spinnerbaits. First off a regular airbrush won't work unless with powder unless you use a product called powder water and if you are going through all of that you may as well use regular createx paints for airbrushing. What you need is a gun like the Badger model 260 hobby sandblaster, it looks like an airbrush but doesn't use needle to control flow and is a single action, you can do some great color blending and shading effects but if you are looking to do fine detail then you need to use the regualer airbrush and airbrush paint. If you look at my gallery, all my spinnerbaits have been done by spraying powder, the pics aren't great but it'll give you an idea of what you can and cannot do with powder.
