schmink
Hello everyone! I'm just wondering what the pro's&cons are on using sharpie markers for making eyes? Thank's!
BLT
Pros......fast and easy. I used black just for putting the pupil on top of the eye I painted on. Cons.....even after letting the jig sit to dry while I went to work, I packaged the dozen or so test jigs into poly bags, the Sharpie eyes rubbed off onto the bags. Chemical reaction to the release agent used on the bags maybe, but it didn't work lol. Not sure how they would hold up in water, they didn't get that far. cadman
Schmink, BLT hit it on the head. Even the permanent markers will rub of the slick surface of a powder painted jig. I believe I even baked the marker on and it still came off. You have to clearcoat the jig if you are goig to use markers. Other than that they work just fine. smalljaw
Try the CS paint markers, they come with different tips to make thick and thin lines or dots and the best part is it is actual paint and if you powder paint and use the paint marker to put the eyes on, you can then bake it and it will be permanent. schmink
Thanks guys, I use the c-s jig paint but seem to have problems with a consistant paint, also have a hard time finding their white paint.
Fatman
smalljaw on the CS markers, once you've got the jig powder painted, do you have to cure the jigs before you can use the markers then recure??? If that sounded dumb sorry been sick and been reading everthing wrong the last couple of days. Fatman
