Metal Head
I have been using Lurecraft plastic for close to a year now. I have had rarely any problems with their plastisol and find it to be the best plastic for the buck. I started pouring some swimbaits with their plastic today and every single bait turned out almost rock hard. VERY stiff and hard to bend. The plastic also was turning yellow and took almost 5 minutes to get to a pourable state and even then it was pretty gooey. I have thoroughly mixed and shook the whole gallon before every pour, including the last few times prior to these pours, but it seems to have done no good. Now I have almost 3/4 of a gallon of plastisol that is unable to be used just sitting around. Has anybody else had this problem before with their plastic? Is there anything I can do to fix or should try?

I have had no problems....I do notice that the hard stuff needs to be hotter than the soft to pour right from my Lee pot....

They're great people there and will take care of you.
alsworms
Getting in touch with Kim at LC is the best call (as stated), but as a quick fix, do you have any softener lying around? Might take quite a bit to get it to your preferred state, but better than nothing for now. A quick edit....... I was assuming that Kim would not want the old stuff and was trying to think of a way to make that plastic work for you.....
Metal Head
Thanks for the replies guys. I gave them a call this afternoon, but it was after hours. I will give them a call in the morning. By no means am I mad at the company, just frustrated. Wouldn't you know I run out of my favorite color when they start crushing it and I can't pour more! Bass-Boys
I would also try the softner.. but , take out a small amount of plastic then add softner to that small amount 1st to see if it works. that way you will not waste a lot of softner. if it doesn't work. gone2long
I know you said you mixed it but the only thing is if you have had success with this batch a few times before it sure sounds like the ratio of plastic to hardener has increased and that only happens with insufficient mixing, is it possible that some hard pack came loose on this ocassion and mixed up making it hard? GB GONE
I tend to agree with Mr Bilky on this one. This exact deal happened with me when I first used LC plastisol. I used M-F and was used to just turning the jug over a couple times. Well, I did that with my LC and the baits were soft but acceptable. When I got to the bottom, I had some super hard plastic and a decent layer of hardener on the bottom of the jug that I could barely scrape off. LC hard packs pretty good after just a day or so. The hardener needs to be scraped loose and then mixed really well prior to use or you will get very inconsistent results on your baits. TheRegulator
I have had this happen also when I get towards the end of a gallon jug. I assumed it was from the hard pack and me not properly mixing every time making the ratio off. I have only used Lurecraft and assumed they all hardpacked about the same. Do other brands not hardpack as much?
alsworms
My fault, fellas. I thought he was past the point of the hardener settling. That WOULD be the obvious problem.

Bass-Boys
that is exactly why I use a clear jug,, when I am shaking the jug... by the way I use LC plastic.. I can turn the jug over and see the bottom,, I can tell when --- all --- the plastic that is stuck to the bottom of the jug has ben mixed in.. Calhouns and LC pack quick, like overnight. Jim
Pitbull Baits
I have used the of Green plastic its not as bad as what you are saying Ghost about the regular LC plastic. Mind you I have not used the regular LC brand so I can't compare the two. Its prolly a bad batch they got in. They will fix it so its all good.
