atijigs
I am curious what the preferred method of rigging the Bears frog. We are still in the hard water season here in MN. so I can't test it out yet. I was hoping you guys could save me some time this spring. I have several poured up and have a couple of ideas but is there a specific rigging system that does not inhibit it's action or buoyancy ? I know a lot of frogs go with double hooks. I have those available too.
saggitarius449
How big is the frog?? I have the 4.5" and I use a 5/0 WG with a screw lock. The screw lock seems to help the nose of the frog and helps it last a lot longer.
GB GONE
I will echo that set-up however I also add a bead on my line to help protect the nose of the frog even more. Jim
jesse1378
i have the 3.5" frog. i have used 2/0 wide gap (fit perfectly in the groove) i have used the zoom 5/0 frog hook. it's a lil big. and i just bought the ribbit double hook. you have to put the hook points in the side of the body. i haven't made a cast with it yet. oh almost forgot. if you want to wake it instead of on top of the water. try using a 1/8 oz swimbait weighted hook. 4/0 or 5/0 Edited March 14, 2011 by jesse1378
Marks Lures
I am curious what the preferred method of rigging the Bears frog. We are still in the hard water season here in MN. so I can't test it out yet. I was hoping you guys could save me some time this spring. I have several poured up and have a couple of ideas but is there a specific rigging system that does not inhibit it's action or buoyancy ? I know a lot of frogs go with double hooks. I have those available too. I am not a "die-hard" frogger, I keep one around for fun in the weeds with a double hook. To make the nose last longer I soak it in WD40, most any solvent will dry it out and make a hard nosed plastic (only soak overnight, then wash with soap & water), think you are talking about a soft plastic here. I use a clothes pin to hold the soft plastic frog (or worm) on the side of the jar while soaking just to get the nose section hard. Regards Hope this helps Mark
