Lureworks Plastisol

Recommended Posts

Yesterday I received my order from Spike it. I ordered a liter of soft, medium and hard pourasol as well as liter of medium ultrasol. The medium pourasol made some nice Steelhead worms and I used the hard pourasol for some salmon eggs and they turned out fairly well but did have quite a few microbubbles. Havent tried the others yet. I was cooking the plastic to about 350f. Using a small pot on a hot plate. Observed no yellowing but was only using upto 8oz at a time and used it up quite quickly. I also noticed a little hard packing in the ultrasol when I opened it, it was stuck to the lid but came off very easily.

Guys I found out a little bit more about the EZ Flow. It is a specially formulated plastisol. It's a thinner product and needs less heat. This product is for making things like heavily ringed worms, baits with small appendages that won't quite fill out and will also be ideal for hand pouring thin lines for cores and triple laminates. Looks like they've got a product to do just about any kind of bait that you could think of, and they say there's still more to come. Who would have thought there were so many different kinds of plastisol available? Not just soft, medium and hard anymore.

This is my first post on here but have read here alot. I am not new to pouring I have just been in the back ground watching.

I ordered a gallon of med. of each pour and inject. They both injected very easy. Both had micro bubbles but let it set for less then a minute and bubbles went away. I used the microwave for this test and the next test will be using a presto pot from Bear. I did call Ispikeit and talked with them for a while. They will be coming out with many more things over the next few weeks. I think I'll call and asked for a sample of the ez flow since I have 20 ringed worm molds coming.

I have use Calhoun, Chemionics, BBCP. Calhoun pours fine but it smokes more then I like, BBCP I liked it the best, Chemionics seems to have quality control issues or ether I have gotten 2 bad 5 gallon batches of it or something it never seems to cure right.. The tackiness never goes away, and yes I have stirred the hell out of it.

I really like their plastics, I just ordered my 3rd 5 gallon bucket of pourasol. I am in Ga and when I order it it has always been here the next day. One day I even ordered after 3pm but it still was here the next day with regular ground shipping. Thats a big plus for me. I also order the UV stuff and I will be trying it out tomorrow when it gets here. Just wish I knew how much of it to use. I have not tried their colors yet but I would think they are top notch. They are adding new ones all the time.

Good to know as I am in GA as well. That would be a BIG plus for me!!!! On the pigment side, they supply the base for all the pigments that others are selling out there. Going to the source makes sense.

I received a small 8 ounce sample of the soft Pourasol the other day. Tested it out this afternoon. Could not get away from the bubbles. I'm a microwave user and the only other plastisol I have used is LC 502 and LC 536. I brought the temps up slowly, and as soon as it got close to hot enough it looked like it was boiling, bubbles just kept rising. I tried to let it sit for a minute, and the surface became white with bubbles, almost frothing. After a while I could stir the bubbles out, but by that time it was to cool and thick to pour with. A reheat got it bubbling again.

I never poured a single good bait.

It's kind of a bummer with the other good reviews here. For whatever reason, it ain't working with the way I do things. I guess I'll have to spring for larger quantities of LC to bring my costs down.

Hello PW, how are you?

For the one microwaving and having bubbles turn your power setting down to cook it slower.

I haven't tried M-F due to the cost and not wanting to move that increase to the customer. I was very happy will the BBCP that Bear use to sell. So far the lureWorks is working great and it cook's fast.

i cant explain it but the shorter cook cycles create less bubbles. now just beacause you will be opening the door more to check on it doesnt mean you need to stir it which also creates bubbles. refrain from stirring it until it starts to come out of the gel stage and all you need to do is get the plastic off the sides of the cup not whisk it like an omelette also. hope this helps

OK, my microwave doesn't have a power level setting so I guess I'll try my second half of my sample bottle bringing it up to temp in even shorter bursts and see how it goes.

Just my thoughts but you should not have to stand on your head, spin around three times and all that to get your plastic heated without micro bubbling. Waiting for bubbles or cooking slower affects production adversely.

PW hate to hear of your troubles with in-law. I hope its not that time. I'll be praying for y'all.

Hmm $17.00 a gallon don't seem bad to me on the plastic, cause I don't have the problems with the injectasol. It's all persanol preferance to me. I have had good luck with the BBCP.

if you had problems with it in the microwave even though you thought you were being easy on it you werent thats where your bubbles came from. call and ask they will tell you the same.

When you say go easy on it, how would you describe the heat cycle for a 4 oz batch? 20 second blasts from the get go - 1 minute, followed by 15 second blasts etc.

I got some of the EZ Flow and Ultrasol in soft and I think they are pretty good.

Here is my take on them so far after one quick pour.

The +

They seem to heat up a bit faster.

They pour pretty nicely.

They don't smoke a hole lot.

They don't seem to really separate and settle.

The -

I have had a little bubbling with the Ultrsol but not to bad.

The Ez flow just seems like really extra soft plastic and takes a long time to set.

Because they heat up faster you have to be a little more careful with the heat.

I could be wrong about this one but I think the baits might have a little stronger plastic smell after setting.

Over all so far I like them.

By the way I use a hotplate not a micro.

Other Plastics I have used are M-F, Lurecraft & Ozarktackle.

Can you guys tell me if this plastic is neutral bouyant or if it floats. I have talked to lureworks and they say it is floating but I know from experience that most plastic does not float it is neutral bouyant. What I mean is if you push the baits under water will they float back up. Most baits will float if you lay them on the water but if you push them under they won't float back up.

hey Reds which BBcp did you like the best the original; or the ultra? and we find out at 7AM if they are going to amputate to mid knee or just open the foot and scrape and clean it out

It was the ultra PW. I hope your in-law is doing ok and they can fix it without amputating anything.
