OCFish
Hi Guys, New to the site. Lots of great info here. Been pouring my own heads and experimenting with plastic pouring for about 7-8 years now. I have a question and I've searched this site as well as the internet. Does anybody know of a mold for sale that is similar to this?: Weedless Swimbait Head This head is made by bladerunner tackle and they make some fine quality tackle. I am not looking for an exact copy. What I am looking for is something with shad style head, weedless and with the hook eye forward like theirs. I don't need recessed eyes, but that is an option. And I don't need the wire that hangs below the head. I'm thinking I will have to go a custom route, but this would just be for personal use.. Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks for such a great site! sdsaw
How about modifying a do-it mold style 9 shad head http://www.mudhole.com/Lure-Building/Saltwater-Jig-Molds/DO-IT-3236 You can add a weedguard slot (1/8" fiber weedguard) and add a hook-eye cavity up at the front of the head (fill the old eye cavity with JB Weld) Might have to go with a 30 deg Mustad 32886BLN jig hook I'll have to look at my mold to see how the hook will lay and see if the bend of the hook will be long enough. What size heads are you looking for? 1/2, 3/4, 1, 1 1/2oz? I can help you do the mold mods if you are interested Scott
OCFish
Thanks Scott. I've thought about that option, but I am not that familiar with the process and have not modified any of my molds before. May have to try that. Have you tried doing this before? I have 1/2, 3/4, 1 and 1 1/2 oz molds of the shad heads... Thanks, Brandon

I'm going to modify my molds (one cavity each size) that are the same as yours. I think that they will work out to be a very nice weedless jighead See my post titled "Modifying a Do-it Style "9" Shad Head Jig Mold To Make A Weedless Swimbait Head" for the details Scott Edited April 4, 2011 by sdsaw
