swedes67
Looking for ideas or opinions on demolding hand injection molds. I currently demold my baits a few minutes after there injected & then hang them on a rack for a day and then cut the baits of the sprue. I will get dents once in a while would it be better to cure baits in water or something else? Mainly doing stick baits. Thanks inadvance

nova
are the dents allready there when you demold ? I have never seen a dent come on after demolding ? Me either; but it could have something to do with the hanging of a bait that still may be somewhat molten in the middle. Gravity will pull down on the bait stretching the softer parts and then when they completely cool it causes the dents. Just a guess. www.novalures.com Edited April 3, 2011 by nova

powerworm
you get dents from there not being enough molten plastic in reserve to allow the bait to stay fully formed as it cools. if you are getting dents and have an adequate supply of plastic still molten in the sprue of the mold you are either using way too hot or cold of plastic; then it stays too hot like nova suggested or the runner closes off with too colf plastic before the bait can draw enough plastic in to stay fully formed. no need to hang the baits just pop the sprues off and lay them out flat like cord wood
saggitarius449
After I inject the mold, i let it set up a minute. Then demold, I pull the baits off of the sprue and lay them out on a big silver tray that i got from AutoZone for laying out parts on. Then I cut the sprue up and add it back to my plastic and reheat.
