Lund1900 Posted April 14, 2011 Report Share Posted April 14, 2011 I have the ultra minnow jig mold, 1/2 to 11/2 oz. and the question i have is what hook can i use in the two smaller cavities,1/2 and 3/4oz instead of the 630. I bought some 570's and the shank was really short. I can't afford to keep ordering different hooks. Hope someone out there can give me an answer. Thanks again. mkvnmtr Posted April 14, 2011 Report Share Posted April 14, 2011 In that mold for the 1/2 oz I use a Mustad 5/0 34185. That is a short hook and bigger than normal. My jigs are used for Snook and my customers normally prefer a short hook. I also make some with the 34184 which is a long hook. The bigger hook fits right in with no modifications. It is a rare mold that I do not use one or both fwo those two hooks. Here we like a strong hook even in a small jig. I like the Mustad 34185S (stainless steel) hook for this jig. This hook only comes in 2/0-4/0, and those sizes just happen to fit this mold like a glove (2/0 in the 1/2, 3/0 in the 3/4 and 1, 4/0 in the 1 1/2) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
