Mixing Plastics

Recommended Posts

Im considering trying out the soft plastic side of pouring and was looking at lurecrafts "green plastic" but i didnt know if it would be better to buy the medium and soft grade and mixing them or just the medium and adding softener. i plan to start with stickbaits and im more concerned with action than durability so any advice is appreciated. my only experience with pouring is remelting old worms a few years ago until i read about how dangerous it is.

Firstly; welcome.

I would suggest that you start with regular plastic in the soft mode. Get a bottle of softner so that you can make your baits even softer because salt will stiffen the plastic.

I have not used the "green" plastic so I can't comment on how it is to melt and pour.

One thing about using "virgin" plastic; it's not anything like remelting old used plastic. You'll enjoy the differance.

Once you get going, ask any question you want. Remember; there are no stupid questions only stupid answers.

Good luck and let us know how you are doing.

1 thing about the "green" plastic is it is a great idea for the environment but once you add your colorant that is not "green" you are defeating your purpose!! i 2nd start with soft and add softener to your recipe when using salt. we have 1 customer is SC who likes a lot more salt than the 2 to 1 ratio and i add a little over 1/4 cup of sodtener per cup os super soft to get some flex in them but he wanted baits that sink like rocks and they do do that!1
