u812many
I'm interested in making my own soft plastics...mainly worms, flukes and lizards for my own use. I'd like to use one piece molds so I can use different colors on tails, and other appendages but I'm concerned about the "flat spot" that one piece molds produce. How much of a flat spot will a worm have? Can someone post a good picture of it or post a link to one? I'm sure a hungry fish will not mind if the worm is not completely round, I'm just wondering what quality to expect from a one piece mold. Would I be able to make a worm with a different color curly tail on a two piece mold? Thanks for your help.
bassfearme
the "flat side" you are talking about is not always flat, if you fill it once it will actually be concave and reverse of what you are looking for, pour the mold then afteer just a sec of cooling pour through the middle again and it will give you a rounder mold. Its great as far as most baits go but as far as baits like senkos or anything like that, then you need a 2 piece mold. but most other 1 peice molds are very easy to get thet round with just a little practice. JSC
Open 1 pc molds can make some of the best looking baits "IF" the one pouring them is skilled at it ..... Practice ..... You can do a lot of things with it that U cannot (with out a lot more work)do with 2 pc, This is where the "Art" of "Hand Pouring" comes in .. some of these guys are really good at it (Wish I was) .... It takes practice and a study of the properties involved with the plastisol .... Good Luck .. JSC
