I have molds of every kind and want to know how you change your formulas depending on each type of bait. I have use soft plastic. are you pouring the same plastic for most of them or do you change it up for each type of bait? When pouring the different baits listed below do you use Salt or no salt, softener, hardener or floating additives? longhorn
I use Calhoun's soft for everything with no additives except salt when making colors like salt and pepper. If I poured senkos I'd follow the standard recipe for salt and softener.

daveh
thats the nice thing about this hobby is there are so many choices you CAN actually make your own!! you can ask and get everyones opinion and advice but it all boils down to what do YOU prefer to use?? he asked so i told him what i use and others did the same. could help him out so instead of telling him good luck start experimenting we gave him a starting point. not everyone is as smart as you PW. lol that`s what`s nice thing about this fourm people helping out others not just saying good luck with that. wish i would have found this forum way before i started pouring. would of saved me time and money. ask all you want and the long time pourers will try to help. i have helped a lot of beginners. gave out my phone number to a bunch of guys and helped them become great bait makers and saved them time and money. so if you don`t want to give a little adivice why be on here. dave Edited May 26, 2011 by daveh

powerworm
i was giving words of encouragement dave to be his own person and not follow the pack; to be creative and to hopefully make some awesome stuff why would that be frowned upon? do you think picasso asked for advice or that blind painter from the early part of the 1900's, no they did it on their initiative and didnt follow the normal way of thinking. is that so bad to be different than everyone else? i have always encouraged people to make the products they want how they want and everytime there is someone who thinks that is wrong that they should all be the same why is that? SHK
I use Soft with salt and softener added for stick baits, and reg soft with very little salt added for everything else. i was giving words of encouragement dave to be his own person and not follow the pack; to be creative and to hopefully make some awesome stuff why would that be frowned upon? do you think picasso asked for advice or that blind painter from the early part of the 1900's, no they did it on their initiative and didnt follow the normal way of thinking. is that so bad to be different than everyone else? i have always encouraged people to make the products they want how they want and everytime there is someone who thinks that is wrong that they should all be the same why is that? forget the fact that the original poster came in here and asked what formulas most people use so that he could get a starting point. You would figure you would want to encourage someone just starting in this hobby and give them a starting point so they can make a few great baits and build the confidence to start experimenting. not everyone knows everything there is to know about pouring baits like the great PW i wish i was as good as you LMAO

nova
The easiest way is to get yourself some softner. It will come in handy when you make sticks or heavily salted baits. www.novalures.com
