Hook And Mold Info Again

Recommended Posts

Hey all. I have another question on a hook and mold. I have a football head mold, FBB-4H-AFM and it accepts regular and flat eye 60 degree hooks. My question is will the Mustad 38108 or 38109 45 degree flat eye hooks fit in my mold? For certain types of trailers I like an EWG hook and I've been very pleased with the Eagle Claw EL111BP hook but I would like to try a flat eye EWG hook and while they are 45 degree hooks, the description says they fit most molds that accept flat eye hooks but I know from experience it doesn't mean that it it'll ft every mold, just like the Trokar TK800, it'll fit the large size football mold but not mine. Anyway, if anyone knows the answer I would greatly appreciate it! BTW, the difference between the the 2 hooks I want to try is the wire, the 38108 uses heavier wire than the 38109 but if either 1 or both fit it doesn't matter as long as 1 of them will work, thanks.

smalljaw,

The 38108 hooks do not fit in that mold, as the hook eyes are too big and the mold won't close without physically modifying the mold.

The 38109 hooks will fit as I use those all the time. Here are the weight oz jigs and the 38109 hooks that fit those cavities.

1/8 oz. will take and fit a 2/0, 3/0, 4/0 and 5/0 38109 hook with no problem and no mods.

1/4 oz will take and fit a 2/0, 3/0, 4/0 and 5/0 38109 hook with no problem and no mods.

3/8 oz will take and fit a 2/0, 3/0, 4/0 and 5/0 38109 hook with no problem and no mods.

1/2 oz will take and fit a 2/0, 3/0, 4/0 and 5/0 38109 hook with no problem and no mods.

The hooks are springy enough to fit as mentioned.
