TheRegulator
You guys crack me up. A guy tests out a new product and reports back on it and everyone jumps his case. The way I see it he answered questions most pourers would ask before they were asked. Looks like a good product, remind me not to sign up for that job! gcl58
i have sent M-F plastic to several companies to do test runs, of the companies that have never used the M-F plastic, only one has complained, the other companies who are now shooting my lures are very impressed with the M-F plastic, i shipped a barrel of plastic to the client and the barrel set for two weeks and they were surprised on how little if any of the plastic had settled before they began shooting. i use several companies plastic due to my lure applications, some lures/plastic floats while other lures/plastic sinks. my floating plastic is 20% higher than the sinking plastic. i am always willing to give a plastic manufacture an opprotunity and test their plastic, i have been through four companies, M-F is used due to the toughness and floating, my second plastic manufacture is used do to the lower cost and the plastic is not required to float. gone2long
What cracks me up is every plastic supplier\manufacturer has had issues at one time or another and I mean every one of them you can't get good plastisol from any one provider and it be good all the time, price drives the issue but some swear by paying more to get quality but I never know what quality is unless you mean the batch I have now which I've had no issues this week but maybe next loyalty is cheap around this issue so buy what works for you and screw the rest! GB GONE
Further note: after reading the MSDS, this plastisol is phalate free or "green". I mention this as I understand how many have moved to this type of plastisol in hopes of helping the environment out or at least leaving less of a footprint. Senkosam
Jim, first of all, thanks for you contributions and especially your evaluation of this product!
Senkosam
Jim, first of all, thanks for your past contributions and especially your evaluation of this product! I have to agree with the characteristics you mentioned regarding the other plastics and I'm always in the market for better plastic than M-F, Calhouns, LC or Chemionics. M-F used to be top dog, but consistent quality went out the window years ago. I evalutated 6 samples of Chemionics for Bear and like 2 formualtions but with reservations. LC cakes at the bottom in a 5 gallon pail - a big pain! So, until I test CaneyCreek plastic, I won't know if the extra cost is worth it and if I have problems based on my heating procedure, additives and reheats, I definitely wouldn't add to my frustration with the others I have laying around. I wish other would contribute their experiences. Jim. If you get a second gallon, I think all of us would appreciate another reveiw as to quality and consistentcy of the three grades - super soft, medium and salt water. I don't like adding hardener or softener if I don't have to and the other qualities are as important (bubbles, stink, fumes/smoke, etc.). Frank *** 3G - you got to be kidding! Nobody sells plastic that bad!! Their formualtion is the absolute worst.
GB GONE
Thanks Frank. I am somewhat hesitant to post any results of testing (especially if they are good) due to the reaction of many. I was in hopes that the other that are using this plastisol would post some results so that there could begin to be some more input as I like to hear if a different microwave gave better/worse results or if other heating methods are seeing the same results. I will be testing the others soon and will be glad to PM you my findings if still interested. Jim PS Now, about purple flake???!!!!!!!!! Senkosam
Thanks. A bait would tell me a lot if you would send one. (Still like my purple vs black grape.)
GB GONE
Be glad to send you several in the medium variety. I can make you some stuff up tonight and send it on tomorrow. PM or email me your address. jim@ghostbaits.com Jim Definitely need your purple. Rather than jack this thread, I'll get with you via email. toadfrog
P.M. me too , I have an incessant curiosity about anything involving the making of tackle . Of late I have reserved my oppinions about a lot of things . But I for one will never post anything reactive or negative in a ways that may or may not affect the reputation of T.U. DaBehr
I look at this from a totally different perspective...probably because I'm a newby pouring for my own use. I like the concept of "green" and less toxic. If the stuff works well, doesn't give me a headache and a sore throat....I'll like it! Price per gallon ...or 2.5 just has to be competitive....not the cheapest. I ordered one gallon of hard and one gallon of medium...and I will post my totally unbias, uneducated, unexperienced, newby opinion. GB GONE
As well as the plastisol being phalate free, so is the worm oil, softener and hardener. I know lots using the green plastic but adding the phalates right back in. Anyway, just more info I have gained from the research of these products. Look forward to hearing your results. MonteSS
I am bumping this up to see if anyone else has tried it and their opinions. Would the soft do well for a Senko type stick? No problems with it when salt is added? Thanks...Bill
