castiron
Hello, I know guys have made molds from polyester resin but would Epoxy resin work as well? I know the cost difference but i have so much Epoxy left over from a kayak build. Would it work? I am new to making soft baits, i have plastisol ordered and i made a frog plug from polymer clay. I don't know of a reason not to use the Epoxy resin. However, I think you will have a problem with the clay master. Depending on the shape, a hard master can be impossible to remove from a hard mold. If the resin raps around the surface, it will lock it in place. Plastic masters, being soft, can be pulled out because they distort and then return to their original shape. JSC
The one thing with epoxy is that with a soft model while it is going thru its "Heat: can cause distorions of the soft model ... Now it has been many years since I have done this but I do remember that being one of the problems you have to look out for. JSC

I will give it a try this weekend if it rains which will give me an excuse to stay indoors. Thanks again this is a great forum.
