Buzzjet
I am a casual lure maker. I have one of Del's fluke molds and it does not produce lures that perform (in the water) like the original super fluke. The nose is too long. I end up having to modify every lure after they cool with sissors and a heat gun. It is simply too time consuming for me but the action of the lure is critical. Does anyone else make a copy of the super fluke? I need a mold that is exactly like the super fluke. Thanks, Buzz
Bass-Boys
you may not find a mold that is ---- exact ---- zoom may have a patent on the bait ?
Buzzjet
you may not find a mold that is ---- exact ---- zoom may have a patent on the bait ? You could be right but the question is definitely worth asking. I am not going into business to compete with Zoom. I just want to be able to make my own color combos, etc. The mold I have is OK and I have been modifying it recently. Currently it is better but the nose of the bait is still too long and that kills the side to side action of the lure. Maybe I can get Del or someone else to make me a custom mold. patrick reif
I have the Bears and Basstackle molds(both 5"+/-) Neither produce a genuine fluke, but both make a super soft jerk. I prefer the Basstackle for topwater and the Bears for deadsticking. Basstackle is more of a triangular shaped jerk like the original Sluggo, but it's still different than the Sluggo. Bears is a more realistic shaped shad or minnow and darts side to side very naturally with slight twitches. Both baits took a little time on the water to learn. You might be so accustomed to fishing a store bought fluke that any soft jerk style suffers by comparison. You may just need to learn the bait and work on the salt/softener ratios
pirkfan
Bear has also added a super minnowi that is different than the twitchy minnow, it has a horizontal tail like a super fluke and because of this the mold sides are asymetrical, you would be able to do an open pour for the belly or back, and then close the mold and inject the rest of the lure
