Dave926
Looking for a substitute for Mustad's 32729 60 degree jig hook. Thanks
Madbasser
This is a light wire 60deg hook. Seems to very uncommon. You will have to use a 90deg Aberdeen style hook and bend the shank. The new Gammy 114 looks like a good candidate, or just the normal 604. The Gammy 614 has the 60deg bend but with a flat eye. This would require a mold mod. Either way it doesnt look too hard but i don't see a direct replacement.
Ogajiga
Dave, why are you switching? As noted by Madbasser, there is no other brand swap available. Closest mold fit might be shorter shanked Gamakatsu EWG 2014 - the 3/0 size has a similar eye-leg-wire diameter to a 2/0 32729, but the 4/0 2014 is disproportionately heavier wire and wider gapped than a 3/0 or even 4/0 32729. Matzuo once offered a similar to 32729 light wire long shank 60* EWG - discontinued and very very difficult to find. I've got a few 2/0s left - if you're interested PM me. The bends are knock off identical to the 3/0 2014 but the shank is much longer. Edited June 13, 2011 by hawnjigs
Munkin
Looking for a substitute for Mustad's 32729 60 degree jig hook. Thanks Does Sohumi still sell there 60 degree hooks? Allen They're a great hook, just looking to see if there were other alternatives available. Since my mold is a custom I'll probably have to stick with the Mustads. Thanks for the responses. Ogajiga
I like 32729s also - excellent fold resistant sharp points and strong for non-forged light wire. Older shiny ones seem better quality than newer blacker ones. Be interested in your application, if you'd care to post a pic.

Can't do the pic, but the mold is a Collins Tube Rattler Mold w/out the rattle. I'm sure I could modify the mold but it makes such a nice head I really don't want to take a chance on messing it up. Ogajiga
Yeah, best not to mess with a Collins. I modified a Do-it Tube-TX to fit most any 60* hook by enlarging the hook eye slots for a 4/0 32786. The pic shows pourable fits for 2/0 32729, 4/0 32729, 3/0 32786, and 4/0 Gami 2014. The lighter hooks allow a bit of bleed up the eye leg easily snipped off. Edited June 15, 2011 by hawnjigs

RedRum
Old topic but I think vmc 7219 is the same hook. LPO, anglers workshop etc makes that claim on the vmc 7219 page.

Ogajiga
Seems like some mfgs are precisely knocking off other mfgs hook designs. Is the VMC 7219 as strong as the 32729?
