What Size Ball Valve For Presto Pot?

Recommended Posts

are you going to do any pouring or are you injecting or both? if your not hand pouring you dont need one but 3/8ths is the correct size and you will need a 3/8" pipe tap to get the threads correct i am sure others have used something else but thats the tap they take

I will be pouring right now. I just ordered some lurecraft single sided molds since they were on sale and had a 10% discount if you buy 10. I also have about 20 POP molds I have made in the last few weeks. I will mostly be pouring sticks, frogs, flukes, and swimbaits. I do plan on ordering some injection molds in the future and one of bears duel injectors with mixing block, but that is a while off. Gotta let my funds recover from the $400 I spent on this already.

I picked up the presto pot yesterday. I will grab a ballvalve, hose nipple and tap today.

Good deal, 3/8" is correct size, you also need a 3/8" hose barb under valve. You should of added your costs prior to buyin the pot, you might of not really save any money since you did'nt have tap already. But I applaud you for making your own pot. Bon' Luck

when i started using presto pots i bought my 1st one at a garage sale and then i had to buy a tap and the correct size drill bit for the tap i quickly learned what i spent on accessories i could have bought 1 (which we did actually 4 3 with stirrers) from bear; then i made the mistake of buying 1 from someone that had a stirrer and i dint ask to see it ahead of time just assumed it was from bears baits well i was very disappointed when it arrived and couldnt turn the plastic in its gel stage so there goes another paypal payment for a stirrer and the correct in my eyes ball valve. sometimes you just cant make a better mousetrap cheaper!! if you have the extra money the pots and stirrer from bears are the way too go!!

Both of my local Walmarts had 10+ in stock a few days ago. I actually had a 3/8" NTP tap in my tool box already. I thought I had loaned it out a while back and never got it back, but it was in the drawer where I keep my tap sets. I haven't modified the pot yet, been too lazy this weekend to do much of anything.

I cant wait to start pouring. I actually went looking for a used microwave this morning at some yard sales but struck out. I want one for when I only want to pour a few baits to try out. I also need to work out a stiring system for my pot. I have a basic idea in my head, I just need to find all of the parts on McMaster- Carr. Building these things myself is part of the whole process for me. I am a avid DIY / Maker. I have built my own 3d printer, and many custom electronics projects over the last 8 years.
