TwoBits
Has onyone poured a 3/8 head on the wire frame of an 1/8 oz jig? I like that idea with the use of small blades. Would create a small profile bait that could be fished a little faster and still kept down in the water column. Something similar to the wire lengths on Hank Parkers Classic bait made by Manns. That bait has a shorter head arm and normal length blade arm that works well with the double Indiana blades. Its a very compact bait. dtrs5kprs
I make my "dirty water" baits that way...1/4, 3/8, 1/2oz heads on a cut-down 0.031/0.035 wire form and sz 3/0 or 5/0 Mustad Ultrapoints. Friend of mine from my old bass club drew Guido Hibdon @ the old Superstars Tmt on the Peoria River in 94 (95?-think it was the one OT Fears won...he also used to fish with us in the IA Fed) and that is how his dirty water baits were made. I use col/col blades sz 2/4 and 3/5 on all the head sizes for different vibration and fall effects. The smaller frame helps get the bait thru nasty brush more efficiently. Think it also helps the fish get the bait in their mouth better, less lost fish vs larger wire baits. Maybe I am nuts on that point. Hard to argue with thre results, lots of keepers & better overall size for me, couple of "Mr Bass" awards for Steve.
