Jigsisme
Well after many questions and much discussion, I did up 30 jigs today, my first "batch"! I searched and searched for remedies for my volcano'ing fluid bed and can't seem to get it fixed, so I tore it apart and gonna start from scratch...I'm sure I'll figure it out. I found some D2T today thats stamped with something else on the package but its the same as Devcon and made by the same company so I'm trying it out. I'll post some pics once I figure out how to do it! Thanks to everyone's help and advice!!
smalljaw
Well I'm glad you're able to get pouing but I have some suggestions for you. The volcanos may be due to the paint, some paint doesn't work well in a fluid bed like watermelon/red flake or copperhead or most any paint that contains flake as well as some solid colors also. What I do is when I get paint that does that I hold the fluid bed and sort of mov e it around in circles, this moves the paint and makes it more fluid like. As for the D2T, be careful as Devcon makes a few different kinds and they are not the same, the 5 min. will set up so quick you'll waste more as you may only get a few jigs done before it is too thick to use. Anything not the 2 ton 30min. epoxy may not work too well so just be watchful of what you get.
Jigsisme
I rebuilt the fluid bed, and now works great! Instead of using caulk I opted for PVC cement, and for the bottom of the cups I used cheap kids lunch bags, tried them out with a few different colors and their pretty darn good. So now I have 7 cups drying over night and day dreaming of new colors to do this weekend!!
Jig Man
Glad you figured out something that works. Most of my filters are brown paper bags from the grocery store.
atijigs
Glad you figured out something that works. Most of my filters are brown paper bags from the grocery store. I will take temperature control over a fluid bed anytime. I have to because I have never used a fluid bed. I don't see the need. I am pretty sure you will have some issues with certain colors even using the bed. White and black still give me trouble so I just cure them hook down. I usually cure my jigs at about 50 units per run and can't stand loosing any to a nipple.
