smalljaw
That question is something only you can answer, you have to look at what will work for you. First you have to look at your experience level and skill level, if you are new to airbrushing then I suggest a single action model, perhaps gravity fed will work better than a ciphon hose depending how you use it. I have an Iwata grafity feed and a siphon feed and they both are great. I bought them from Hobby Lobby with a 40% off coupon. I personally like the gravity feed for small stuff. If you are going to paint lots of baits with one color than a siphon feed will be better. If you are going to do smaller quantities with many color changes than gravity feed is better. This is just my opinion. I will post the models numbers when I get home. Air brush needle size also dictates what you will want to paint the smaller the needle the finer the lines, however this is all about how much you practice painting. The more you practice the better you get at it. It's all relevent.
cadman
Bronzeback185, Both are Iwata Eclipse series. The siphon feed is BCS and the gravity feed is CS.

First of all you are going to have to paint all your heads solid white to begin with since most of the paint you're going to use with an air brush needs an under coat. The larger the needle the easier it will be to paint 1 color but for detail you'll need the smaller needles to paint fine lines. As for the compressor, I use a Force oilless electric compressor, it has a 2 gallon tank and goes up to 120 psi plus it comes with a regulator but most any compressor will work except for the small aquarium ones. oldtoolsniper
I went on Ebay and found some books on airbrushing. You can get some really cheap and they will help you immensely with your search. I was surprised by the stuff you can shoot through an airbrush provided you thin it properly. All of the styles have different purposes and one does not really cover everything. It depends on how much switching around you want to do. I just got done repainting two old wood lures and it took 8 different colors to complete the body, I still have the eyes to go. Some of those colors only required 8 drops of paint in the bowl but they all require the same level of cleaning and switching around. I am using a gravity feed brush for this because it works well for small amounts of paint. I am only starting down the path and I can tell you that three things have helped me (besides this site). The books (any of them), taking notes and recording the color recipes as well as painting a sample spot in my book of each color beside the recipe and last but not least a color wheel so I can at least figure out where I need to go to get the color I think I want.
