outdrsmn64
Im new to powder painting and wondering if anyone has used the new powder paint airbrush for detail work? Just want to know if it works well or not. Luremaking.com sells it for 39.99. Thanks for any information and reviews. Tight Lines to all. toadfrog
I have a Components Systems powder air brush . They throw a lot of over spray . Unless you build a paint booth it will get everywhere . Just a table top model booth with some kind of tray so you can reclaim the powder. Painting scales ect. are not a problem If you have a good eye and a steady hand. smalljaw
If you want fine detail then use createx airbrush paint and a regular airbrush. I've been spraying powder for a long time and it does an amazing job of blending colors and adding shading effects but it is impossible to get fine detail because it is powder and when it melts onto the jig it expands so fine lines are impossible with that setup. Nomad Jigs
I hate to resurrect this thread, but can you spray powder paint with a regular airbrush? I have one that I don't use for anything.

psilvers
Smalljaw - who has been a wealth of info on this subject - is right, you can't spray powder with a regular airbrush. However, if you have a Paasche airbrush and the VL-3 needle and tip setup (or a similar airbrush with a large orifice), you can spray a powder/powder water mix. The powder water is mixed with powder 1:1. The "powder water" (from Columbia Coatings) suspends the powder so it can be sprayed with some airbrushes. The key is mix the powder/powder water with one of those battery powered milk frothers ( ~$15). Pete
