Senkosam
Last year I came up with a new design for a minnow-like bait and everyone who've tested it want to buy it from me. It works for all species - even an 18lb carp! lure lengths are 2, 2.75 and 3" . Question 1: It has a paper thin tail Is it possible to get an injection mold made that would fill that cavity as well as multiple baits? Question 2: Who might be a good source to make the mold and not resell the design? Nice thing is that I would not need to offer more than three colors or pour laminates and mass producing them wouldn't be that time consuming as long as there was little to trim. Frank I would look at Bear or Bass Tackle, and specify in writing that you are having this mold made exclusively for you. you will have to pay a premium but the design is yours. powerworm
frsmk you know all the major players and as long as you make it clear from the beginning that this is your design and yours only i believe any of them should accomodate you!! good luck cant wait to see what you came up with!! Frank
Kevin at Basstackle.com has a good mind for detail things like your tail. He has a few designs out now with a thin tail but you would have to give him your number for the tail thickness. Real easy to work with too. toadfrog
To be sure the Tails will inject have it built with a vacuum port . Try This mold company. TDM 268-267-7017 if all of the other sources don't work out . You will need to send them a sample lure if you don,t have an actual CNC specs. I think you are going to find that it will be months before you actually get the mold in hand no matter who does it.
Pitbull Baits
Here's the guys I use Eagle Precision Machine 402-464-6474. They have 15 years injection mold making experience. They will get you a free quote out in a week. They are pretty good on the time it takes to get them made. They will give you a date for them to be cut out and they will beat the date or meet it. GB GONE
Shop it to all the mold makers and see what you get. I'll bet one or more can cut you a prototype in a week or 2, no longer. It will cost you to keep the design private but put all that in writing. I believe if you want the design private, you will cover all the costs of the CAD (or design developemtn in software), prototype cuts etc. All the costs that are usually absorbed by the mold maker will be born by you. No worries as it sounds like you have a winner Frank!!!!! Jim
