ifish
Hey Guys, I have been messing around with rattles on some jigs and was wandering if anyone has a favorite rattle. Also wandering how to glue these on the hook somehow. Thanks!
smalljaw
I really don't have a favorite but I prefer the metal tube rattles over glass as the sound is more subtle and natural compared to glass. As far as gluing to a hook, what kind of rattle are you talking about? There are rattles avaiable that snap on the hook shank so there really is no need to glue unless it is a particular ratte that you had in mind. ifish
Hey SmallJaw, I am looking at the Zorro type that snap on the hook .http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Zorro_Baits_Rattlers_10pk/descpage-SSZBRATS.html The gap is too big on the rattle and I tried using gel super glue and that is pretty week. Going to try clear liquid nails next or 2 ton epoxy. The plastic around the rattle kind of dulls the sound and was wandering if that is better than glass or metal. Thanks for your feedback! Munkin
The add-a-rattle that Stamina sells is the best one I have used. The ones I am really looking for are the ones Strike King uses on their pro model jigs. Allen
ifish
Hey Munkin, Your mailbox must be full. I tried to send you a teflon pin connection. Check out the thread you started on pins!
smalljaw
ifish, the rattle Munkin suggested is a good one, the rattle you have that won't snap on a hook is designed to snap on the wire form of a spinnerbait or buzzbait, and I like plastic rattles also, a little duller in sound than metal but it still has that subtle quality that I think is less prone to spooking fish than the high pitched clicking of a glass rattle. I will say that on the rare occasion that I put rattles in tube, I use glass and the reason is the rattle need to be louder because of being inside the plastic, thats just my personal opinion to rattles.
