Do It Shake It Mold Question

Recommended Posts

Bama,

If you are talking about this mold it will not accept a 90 degree unless it has a flat eye.http://do-itmolds.co...ry&path=1_7_266 I am not sure which mold you are talking about. These molds have 2 options.http://do-itmolds.co...ry&path=1_7_264. This mold will take either. http://do-itmolds.com/shop/index.php?route=product/category&path=1_7_234 I fish and make a lot of shakey head molds and I am using straight wire in mine. Lot better than screw locks.

I see now. Thank you guys for your help!

I guess this mold just has the eyelet closer towards the front of the jig head than the Davis "shaky head" jigs I'm using now. The eyelet on the davis jighead is exactly centered on the head, where this mold puts the eyelet very close to the front of the head.

I assume it will work similarly to the davis brand jigs but does Do It make a mold that still accepts these size hooks, but centers the eyelet?

Bamabulldawg, the reason the 90 degree hook sits a little higher on the head on that shakey head is because it accepts both the 90 degree regular eye hook and the 60 degree flat eye hook. If you want my opinion I think that design is superior to the production head you're using now. First of all you can use the 90 degree Gamakatsu hook so you know the jig you make already has a superior hook and the second thing is it takes a flat eye 60 degree hook and if you use that mold and make some shakey heads with the 60 degree flat eye hook you'll never go back to the 90 degree shakey head. I miss very few fish and get hung up a lot less since using the flat eye 60 degree hook on my football shakey heads and I'm going to add a round head screw loc shakey head, I was looking at the same mold you are considering and may eventually get it but right now I need the screw lock. Do yourself a favor and get that mold and make a few of both styles, and no matter which one you like better you still have the ability to make the other and I'll bet you will like it better than what you're using now.
