chachybaby
Hey guys, Just wonderin what brand glue (if any) everyone is using when hand tying jigs?? I read its a good idea to apply a thin coat after laying down the base thread... is there a glue or epoxy that will cure faster to speed up tying process thanks, C
psilvers
Try Zap-A-Gap. It is the version of Crazy Glue used by many pros. It is available from Cabela's or Bass Pro. It may also be available locally. Pete
BLT
I think it's the pink bottle zap a gap most use, but if you are tying a lot of stuff, most use Sally Hansens hard as nails clear polish. Cheaper and does as good a job. A lot of people also use it to coat the outside wraps also. I don't use it for the outside, but I know a lot that do with no issues. Jig Man
I use clear nail polish on all of my tied jigs. It works great and is really cheap at Dollar General.

Nomad Jigs
I use head cement, but I will be going to get some clear nail polish now. I don't like paying the price for head cement.

Tell them your toe nails chip to easy lol. There are several types of the hard as nails, you do not need the really expensive stuff.
Vodkaman
Put your hand on your hip and blow them a kiss. Works for me. Dave
psilvers
I have also used Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails, even though I now use the Zap-a-Gap. In fact, I was living in Mississippi and I tied a bunch of crappie jigs for a guy at work. He asked me what he owed me for the jigs. I told him that he didn't owe me anything for the jigs, but what he owed me for standing in line at Wal-Mart in rural Mississippi with a bottle of Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails was a debt that he could NEVER repay! G-Bait
Sally Hansenworks for me. I had tied buckhair on an old spinnerbiat back during the summer used in saltwater and freshwater caught about 30 fish on it and threw it into some heavy cover and the threads havent come loose. Musky Glenn
I put down a coat of clear nail polish on the bare hook then coat the wrappings with the same clear. It will last longer than I can keep up with the jig. I also use red and black finger nail polish for some lure eyes. My wife does the shopping! Oldfart9999
I use Flex Head Cement but you guys have me thinking about the colors & glitter in nail polish. If anyone tries to pick me up I'll give them Munkin's number.LOL
jigtier
I use clear nail polish on the first wraps under my tying material. The best clear high gloss finish I have found is called "Hard As Hull" 3 to 4 coats. Very high gloss. I purchase it from "Hareline Dubbin" -Paul
Fatman
I really don't use either one. I've been tying jigs for a long time and if you half hitch right while tying materials in and do a really nice whip finish to tie off you shouldn't need any. As fast as we lose jigs, who needs it?? smalljaw
I really don't use either one. I've been tying jigs for a long time and if you half hitch right while tying materials in and do a really nice whip finish to tie off you shouldn't need any. As fast as we lose jigs, who needs it?? I make a couple of haf hitches to finish and if it is for personal use then I'm done. If they are for someone else I will use a very light coat of D2T, I never had a complaint but as Fatman said, as fast as they get lost you really don't need anything.
