markw
In the muskie and pike world, it's pretty common to tie bucktail to a 3/0 or 4/0 treble hook. But I'm a big fan of starflash and my wife hates the mess of deer hair in the living room I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for how you could attach silicone skirts to a treble hook, and make it stay in place? The Dutchman
Use old skirts and cut to size and tie like hair or buy silicone or rubber strips and cut to size and tie them in like hair.
markw
I thought about that, but I didn't think that I could get the wraps and glue to hold the silicone since it's so slick. It's worth a shot. Maybe some epoxy on the wraps will hold it.
smalljaw
MarkW, Click on the link or copy and paste it, what I'm showing you is from Barlows tackle and it is called a skirt umbrella, the large size is for spinnerbaits and buzzbaits and the small size is for treble hooks, all you do is make a skirt using a rubber collar and then slide the skirt onto a shaft, like a piece of aluminum arrow and then slide the skirt onto the umbrella and then put it on the treble hook. They also sell a tool for putting the skirt on to the umbrella, and it is an aluminum arrow shaft with a removeable field tip, pretty cheap, anyway, here is the link, check it out. http://www.barlowsta...llas--P823.aspx Here is the link for the tool. http://www.barlowstackle.com/-Skirt-Umbrella-Tool--P816.aspx Edited September 23, 2011 by smalljaw

Mark, I don't have access to silicon skirts etc unless I ship from the USA etc... So I used pre-made squid skirts. Works with trebles and singles, even if the ones I use are a lot larger than most Here is a squid imitation using the skirts on one of my popper's...I have used a orange/yellow skirt, then slid a clear/pink over top, similar to trolling lures.
