den101
I have a chance to pick up some Rapala DT crankbaits for $2.00. the only problem is the CB are gold foil & black top. the bass around here like silver & black better. my question is. can I change the gold finish to silver & how? do I lighty sand the top coat & paint it silver? MikePaintsBaits
If you want to keep that foil effect , but change from gold to silver , I'd sand the bait & foil it with silver foil , paint your back black & clear coat. I'm sure some of the better air brush people will chime in. Just my 1/2 cent Info Mike P. bassnbrad
The easy way, which may not be the best, but will certainly get the job done is as you asked "do I lighty sand the top coat & paint it silver?" If you LIGHTLY spayed the silver, allowing the foil to still shine through it would be pretty kewl. You might try sanding, painting with a translucent paint and or add some glitter to the top coat. To me, Mikes suggestion would be best if you want that true Silv/Blk finish...
